About the Role

The Architect will promote the company’s design excellence, possess technical skills to support project work and employ effective communication skills to lead a multi-disciplinary project team. They will serve as the primary contact for clients and consultants, communicating progress and status throughout the project from preliminary conception to completion.

Responsibilities would include:

  • Conceptualize and design buildings and develop plans
  • Develop design specifications, have consideration for building and construction materials, costs and construction schedules;
  • Perform or coordinate space planning studies: programming documents, area calculations, code review
  • Work with clients and municipalities
  • Participate in re-zoning applications and present and respond to municipal design panels and councils
  • Conduct or coordinate site supervision and contract administration for major projects
  • Prepare or oversee construction drawings and specifications
  • Proposal writing and presentations

About you

The ideal candidate would have the following attributes:

  • Registered Architect with AIBC and have a degree in Architecture from a recognized institution
  • 4+ years of experience in a consulting environment with Residential, Industrial, and Commercial Interiors projects as a registered architect
  • Advanced knowledge of REVIT, AutoCAD, Adobe Suite, Sketch-Up, and Enscape
  • Proven experience in leading projects and groups while mentoring junior staff

About the Role

The Sustainability Consultant is an Architect that will promote the company’s design excellence, possess technical skills to support project work and employ effective communication skills to lead a multi-disciplinary project team. They will serve as the primary contact for clients and consultants, communicating progress and status throughout the project from preliminary conception to completion. They will be educated and knowledgeable regarding the Step-Code, Net-Zero Energy, Passive House, the local (City of Vancouver) objectives for sustainability strategies and initiatives for 2030. LEED certification is also considered to be relevant while other sustainable models are being adopted.

Responsibilities would include:

  • Conceptualize and design buildings and develop plans
  • Develop design specifications, have consideration for sustainable building and construction materials, costs and construction schedules;
  • Perform or coordinate space planning studies: programming documents, area calculations, code review
  • Work with clients and municipalities on developing and incorporating sustainable principles for buildings and projects.
  • Proposal writing and presentations that require the incorporation of sustainability strategies and principles.
  • Educating and preparing clients and consultants for transitioning current building design and construction methods to incorporating sustainable strategies.
  • Educating staff on how their designs and Architectural contributions could attain higher standards of sustainability.
  • Prepare presentations concerning how to make environmentally positive contributions to the built environment – at a single building level and at a larger community and city level.
  • Be able to review and assess energy modelling and performance.
  • Conduct research on products and materials and Architectural strategies that can contribute to the environmentally sustainable evolution of Architectural projects

About you

The ideal candidate would have the following attributes:

  • Registered Architect with AIBC and have a degree in Architecture from a recognized institution
  • 4+ years of experience in a consulting environment with Residential, Industrial, and Commercial Interiors projects as a registered architect

  • Participate in the conceptual design of projects and develop preliminary plans
  • Participate in the development of specifications, have consideration for building and construction materials, costs and construction schedules;
  • Perform or coordinate space planning studies: programming documents, area calculations, code review
  • Participate in re-zoning applications and assist with presentations and responses to municipal design panels and councils
  • Assist in coordinating site supervision and contract administration for major projects
  • Participate in the preparation of construction drawings and specifications
  • Participate in Creating marketing materials and presentations

About you

  • The ideal candidate would have the following attributes:
  • Registered as an Intern Architect with AIBC and have a degree in Architecture from a recognized institution
  • Some experience in a consulting environment with Residential, Industrial, and Commercial projects
  • An active interest in BIM
